I am not married: Popy

I have reportedly been married for several times. Some rumours about my marriage reach me and others don't. Most interestingly, even I do not know that I'm getting married," film actress Sadika Parvin Popy said, reacting to the buzz of her marriage.

Popy said, "There's nothing to hide about marriage. It's a big decision, a step into a new life. I will certainly inform you when I get married."
The actress admitted that she is already in a relationship but it may take time to decide about marriage.
Popy said she is married to her work.
She said that she was looking for a perfect partner, a partner who shows respect, love and care for her career and family.
"I want to make sure that I can share everything with him and depend on him. The man also has to be cultured and modern," said the actress.
Three-time national award winner actress Popy has little work to do now. She said she is very fussy about her work and does take on all the work offers that come to her. She selects work according to the demands of her fans and followers. But she assured her fans that she will soon be back with brand new performances.

Roger Moore From Saint to 007

British actor Roger Moore was never one to boast about his acting ability but then the facts spoke for themselves—he played James Bond in more films than any other man.
Known for his ironically raised eyebrow and deadpan quips, Moore’s take on the suave superspy was more tongue-in-cheek than that of his manly predecessor Sean Connery.
But he outgunned Connery and all the other actors to have played 007 by taking the role he fondly called “Jimmy Bond” in a record number of seven films.
Moore was also one of the last of the old-style movie stars, who counted Frank Sinatra and David Niven among his friends and lived in luxury in Switzerland and the French Riviera.
He went on to become a real-life hero as an ambassador for UNICEF, even as he downplayed his own talents.
“I’m not that cold-blooded killer type. Which is why I play it mostly for laughs,” he once said.
  • ‘Not done badly’ -
Born Roger George Moore, on 14 October, 1927 in the London suburb of Stockwell, he was the only son of a police constable and his wife, and had a happy childhood.
“I’ve not done badly for a boy from Stockwell, where I used to gaze at the silver screen in wonderment, little realising I’d be a part of this magical world,” he wrote in his autobiography, “My Word Is My Bond.”
Moore began his acting career as an extra in the 1940s before studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He landed an MGM studio contract but only had supporting roles during the 1950s.
It was not until the following decade that he achieved worldwide fame, starring in British television show “The Saint” as smooth-talking adventurer Simon Templar.
He also played alongside Tony Curtis in the 1970s crime series “The Persuaders”.
Moore said in his autobiography he had been approached about playing James Bond, novelist Ian Fleming’s fictional secret agent, as early as 1967.
But it was not until 1973 that he finally won the role—despite, at 45, being two and a half years older than Connery, the man he replaced.
Moore made his debut in “Live and Let Die”, after the producers made him lose weight, get fit and cut his hair.
He followed it with “The Man With the Golden Gun” (1974), “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977), “Moonraker” (1979), “For Your Eyes Only” (1981) and “Octopussy” (1983) before bowing out after “A View to a Kill” in 1985, when he was 57.
“Sadly, I had to retire from the Bond films,” Moore said at a ceremony to award him a star on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”, just ahead of his 80th birthday. “The girls were getting younger and I was just getting too old.”
Moore said his most enjoyable Bond experience came in “The Spy Who Loved Me”, memorable for a cast of villains that included “Jaws” played by Richard Kiel—who died in 2014 -- and gadgets including a Lotus Esprit sports car which doubled as a submarine.

“I think ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ was the best, or rather the one I enjoyed doing the most,” Moore told AFP in an email interview in 2007. “It had great locations. And I was exceedingly happy working with Lewis Gilbert, the director.”
He had less fun with the actress Grace Jones on “A View to a Kill”.
“I’ve always said that if you’ve nothing nice to say about someone, then you should say nothing. So I’ll say nothing,” he recalled.
While fans debate which actor proved to be the best incarnation of 007, Moore revealed he had never discussed the subject with the other actors.
Even when Connery emerged from retirement in 1983 to appear in the ‘unofficial’ Bond film “Never Say Never Again”—released in the same year as Moore’s “Octopussy”—the two actors did not discuss the subject.
That was partly due to a mutual friend, Michael Caine, advising them not to be suckered into joining a media-driven “Battle of the Bonds”.
“Sean and I never discussed our experiences... not even with the leading ladies!” Moore said. “Actors don’t really sit around discussing the parts they’ve played—just in case someone says ‘That was crap!’”
But he later admitted he was a big fan of the current Bond, British actor Daniel Craig.
“Daniel Craig is the hardest, then Sean,” he said in an interview.
  • Self-deprecating -
Moore acted in other films both during and after the Bond years but none had anything like the success of 007.
He was always self-deprecating when it came to his own skills, once joking: “I have three expressions, left eye, right eye and none moving at all.”
Moore also enjoyed the high life, with a group of celebrity friends and homes in southwestern Switzerland and Monaco.
But in recent years Moore had become known for his humanitarian work, through activities as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, helping raise funds for under-privileged children.
He was awarded a knighthood in 2003 in recognition of his work with the organisation.
He was also an active campaigner against the production of foie gras.
In 1993 he underwent surgery for prostate cancer, in 2003 he was fitted with a pacemaker, and in 2013 he was diagnosed with diabetes.
In 2014 he published “Last Man Standing: Tales from Tinseltown” titled “One Lucky Bastard” in the United States.
In 2015 he was number 38 in British GQ magazine’s 50 best dressed men.
Moore was married four times and is survived by two sons and a daughter.
During his first two marriages—to ice skater Doorn Van Steyn and singer Dorothy Squires—he once admitted he had been physically abused.
His children were all with Italian actress Luisa Mattioli, whom he married in 1969 divorced in 1996. He married Kristina Tholstrup, a Swede, in 2002.

Inside the beautiful mind of Misir Ali

After the massive success of “Aynabaji” and his groundbreaking performance, it was interesting to see what Chanchal Chowdhury did next. The seasoned actor, arguably at the peak of his career, chose another iconic character to follow up Sharafat Karim Ayna – that of Humayun Ahmed's immortal Misir Ali. Anam Biswas is bringing one of the best stories of the Misir Ali series, “Debi” to the silver screen, produced by Jaya Ahsan's C Te Cinema. Jaya also plays a leading role in the film, along with Iresh Zaker, Sabnam Faria and Animesh Aich. In a recent conversation with The Daily Star, Chanchal shared his motivation behind choosing the role and the kind of work that went into bringing the character to life. Excerpts:
“After 'Aynabaji', I took a break, because nothing really drew me, from the lots of film offers that came my way. I thought hard about what I wanted to do next."
“I took three months to decide whether to act in 'Debi'. There are two reasons behind acting in the film. Firstly, after the success of 'Aynabaji', I knew my next work had to be spectacular. Humayun Ahmed has taken contemporary Bangla literature to new heights, and Misir Ali and Himu are two of his most famous characters. It eventually made sense to sign the project. Secondly, the audience always has a high expectation from artistes like us. It was also that sense of responsibility that made me sign up for it."
“There were two big challenges for the movie. Firstly, it is a film being made with government funding, so the budget is tight. Everyone has to make sacrifices. Second, the audience's expectations from me now are skyrocketing after 'Aynabaji'. If I fail this, it will seriously affect my career. This is a big challenge."
"Anyone who has read Misir Ali stories has a mental image of him. To make a character matching that image was also a challenge. In 'Aynabaji' they have seen me in a number of avatars. I also have to shake off those images from the viewer's mind, and that's tricky.
"I tried on 10-15 different looks on the first day, but none of them worked. My director liked some of them, but I didn't. And if I don't believe in the look, I can't get into the character. The first day was a waste.“The next day, I tried on some more. Put on fake moustaches and beards, but nothing worked.“Now, about the get-up of Misir Ali: I have done over 1500 TV plays, and have played some 1,000 different characters. Of them, at least a hundred are clear in my memory. I have been in five films. In 'Aynabaji' alone I played six different roles. I had to make Misir Ali different from all of those. I had to think hard and deep about this."
I had to try on 30 different pair of spectacles before I could choose one. We took photos with those glasses, saw them on the big screen before selecting one. My director showed me many different looks from famous films, but it did not click for me because in my head Misir Ali is a Bangladeshi character written in the Bangladeshi context, and has to look that way. Eventually I decided to not use any prosthetic hair. Everything would have to be real."
“We went to a specialist Thai hairstylist to bleach my hair. I grew my beard out for about a week and when I put on the glasses, I was convinced that the look was perfect."
“Designing the house of Misir Ali was another mammoth task. Misir Ali is an extraordinary human being. He has a world of his own that is not like the rest of us. We got 5,000 books and about a hundred potted plants to put the room together. And then, there were13 days just immersed in filming. Jaya is perfect for the character of Ranu. She is one of the best actresses we have right now. I'm also really happy with the director and cinematographer's work. All in all, it was a new experience. I am waiting as excitedly for the film as the audience.”

Badrul Anam Saud returns to the small screen

Acclaimed TV director and scriptwriter Badrul Anam Saud has just helmed his first film titled “Gohin Baluchor” which will go to the censor board soon. Having stepped away from the small screen during the course of filming the movie, the director is back with a six-episode TV play titled “Idur Biraaler Golpo.” Scripted by Saud himself, the main cast includes Suborna Mustafa in the role of Rabu and Fazlur Rahman Babu as Anis. Other actors appearing in various characters in the play are Shazu Khadem, Runa Khan, Irfan Sazzad and Naziba Basher.
“I loved the concept of the play. This is my first time appearance in a play aired by Deepto TV, and my character is quite the disciplinarian who struggles to have everyone around her fall in line. Her efforts are in vain, and this creates funny situations. I know that viewers will enjoy watching our antics on screen,” said Suborna Mustafa regarding her role.
Fazlur Rahman Babu described his experiences on set: “When you have a talented cast to work with, everything goes smoothly and the work becomes quite enjoyable. There is no need to spare words for Suborna's talent as her reputation is testament to her success, and I always look forward to working with her.”
The mini-series is slated to air on Deepto TV next month from Saturday to Thursday on 6:00pm and 9:20pm.

The 50-year-old actress opened up to HOLA! USA for the magazine’s May issue, speaking out about her struggle.

"I suffer from stage fright. No one would know it, but I get it really, really bad,” she revealed.

Hayek said the issue arises when she is in front of a crowd.

“If you take the camera away and put me in front of an audience, I just die,” she said.
“Once I get onto the stage, you can't tell. But then I can't do anything else the rest of the day because I'm so exhausted.”

Her mother, Diana Jiménez Medina, graced the cover of the mag with her A-list daughter ahead of Mother’s Day.

Medina expressed her pride over her famous daughter and said she knew Hayek was destined for great things.

"I always knew that Salmita would be something big in her life because of her personality, her way of always working for what she wants, but she surprises me. Ranbir-Katrina’s love life

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer ‘Jagga Jasoos’ was in the making for over three years. After several delays, the Anurag Basu-directed film has finally been wrapped up and is slated to hit theatres on July 14 this year, reports Times of India
With his recent post on Twitter, the director took a hilarious dig at the fact that ‘Jagga Jasoos’ took unusually long to reach completion. He posted a collage of the film’s lead stars.
In one picture, Ranbir and Katrina’s childhood images have been used and it has been captioned as ‘Day 1 – Jagga Jasoos’. The second picture sees them in their current avatar, walking out of the set hand-in-hand.
The caption reads, ‘Last day – Jagga Jasoos. How time flies.’ It’s endearing to see the former couple together in the picture.
Ranbir and Katrina, who were in a steady relationship since many years, parted ways in January 2016.
However, the thorough professionals that they are, they did not let their split come in the way of shooting the remaining portions of ‘Jagga Jasoos’.

How she is changing the narrative of Bollywood

Anushka Sharma had a dream debut in Bollywood with a Yash Raj film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. However, as a producer, she has picked stories that are different and propagate a message for the society, reports Hindustan Times
Anushka Sharma began her Bollywood journey with a dream project, a Yash Raj film opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Both critics and fans were equally impressed with her charming presence and she went on to feature in several films where she played the typical happy-go-lucky girl.
However, when Anushka ventured into production with her Clean Slate Films, it was a totally new territory, be it NH 10 or Phillauri or her upcoming project, Pari.
The actor has made sure that these are not regular stories. Anushka’s first production brought out the dark and ugly side of suburban areas.
Anushka essayed the role of a strong woman who fights for her own and retaliates, much in the typical Bollywood style.
The film was loosely adapted on the 2007 Manoj-Babli honour killing case.
